Replacing Integrated Trailer Brake Controller For a Prodigy P3 On a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

i need help on installing a brake controller on my 2011 Chevy 2500HD the factory one works sometimes and then quits. I do not want to take a chance on it failing while towing our RV in the mountains. Thanks

I recommend installing a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 on your 2011 Chevrolet Sivlerado 2500HD. This proportional brake controller also has a built in diagnostic feature to help you resolve issues that might occur in your brake system. As you have an integrated brake controller your installation instructions will be different. I have linked an article below that will cover this installation as well for your to reference.
When installing an aftermarket brake control into a truck that is equipped with a factory Integrated Trailer Brake Control (ITBC), you will have to make the following connections. Your Silverado will have four or five blunt-cut wires under the left side of the instrument panel. These wires are located above your left shin as you are seated in the driver's seat. The wires can be identified by a white label and the color of the wires. The wire colors are red/black, white, light blue/white, dark blue wire, and possibly orange.
Red/black wire on Sierra to black power brake controller wire
White to white ground wires
Light blue/white on Sierra to red brake light signal controller wire
A 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 will need to be ran from the brake controller to the 7-way connector on your Sierra. As it is sold by the foot be sure you have enough to route it through the firewall and down the frame to the connector. This wire will connect from the blue wire on the controller to the blue wire on the 7-way. You will want to cut the wire back 4-6 inches from the 7-way connector and connect the new wire to the 7-way.
To complete the installation, two wires under the hood have to be connected. One is the power supply wire to the aftermarket brake control. The other is the battery charge line to the 7-way connector. These wires are both Red/Black with eyelets connected to them. They are coiled up under the hood and must be connected to the under-hood fuse box. The brake control power wire is located between the fuse box and the left (driver's side) fender. The battery charge wire is located under the master cylinder/brake booster assembly.
The battery charge wire will go on the smaller Black stud, and an M6X1.0 Metric Nut # 185916 is required to attach the wire to the stud. Larger posts require an M8 Nut # 185917. The brake control wire will go on the larger Silver stud along with the existing Red wire. The existing Red wire is the power wire for the factory brake control and does not need to be removed.
