I have a complete replacement option for you, but unfortunately the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1313 off of your friends 2011 Ram 3500 Diesel uses a different install kit and a different center section than the correct hitch for your truck, so there is not a way to install it on your truck.
For your 2012 Ram 2500 with the Gasoline engine you will need to go with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1308 instead.
