Battery Solenoid Recommendation for a Trailer Battery Charge Wire to Prevent Battery Drainage
Question:
Have a 04 Dodge Ram 1500. I want to run a charge wire to my trailer battery connected to truck battery via 7way plug. I want to use a solenoid so that trailer has access to truck battery only when key is on. Where can I get keyed only power to operate the solenoid? Do you sell the solenoid?

We have a solenoid that will do exactly what you are trying to do. You would want a Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201. You would run the keyed power source to the middle terminal and then splice the other terminals inline with your 12 volt power charge circuit.
In order to find a good circuit to use I would recommend you find an accessory that only gets activated when the key is on and then tap into the power side of that circuit. On my car I used the power antenna wire and the traction control switch wires.
