Recommended Replacements for an Older Trailer Hub

Question:

Im trying to find a replacement hub for a friends u-built trailer from the 80s. The hub is a 5 on 4.5inch pattern. The inside bearing is an LM48548 and the outside bearing is a LM11949. If I cant get a hub I would be happy with replacement lugs. I cant seem to find anything on this 1-3/8 x 3/4 spindle. Looking forward to some good news XD

Having an inner bearing # LM48548 and outer bearing # LM11949 is definitely going to make things a bit difficult. I went through all the hub options we have available, but none will match your set up, unfortunately.

That being said, we should be able to get replacement lugs for you. This will depend on the size needed, but the # 7-122 will be 2 inches long with a 1/2 diameter, the # K916WB25 will be 2 1/2 inches long with a 9/16 diameter, and the # 7-232 will be 2 3/4 inches long with a 5/8 diameter. One of these should get you all squared away.

What may be the best option, however, will be to replace the axle. Something like the Dexter # 35545E-ST-89 will have replacement hubs, brake drums, and a much more common bearing combination. Going this way would need to match a few measurements though. The center to center of the spring seats will measure at 74 inches, and hub face to hub face will measure 89 inches. As this is a round axle, you will also need to replace your U-Bolts with a # APUBR-1.
