Rear Suspension Enhancement For a 2012 Nissan Frontier Pulling 3,500lb Trailer

Question:

Hi, I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier Pro4x with too much squat when pulling 3500 lb trailer. I use an Andersen WDH with 8inch rise shank but the tongue is still an inch or so too short, causing a lot of tongue weight and lack of weight distribution. Unfortunately I am unable to get a custom 10inch shank from Andersen and dont want to have to buy another WDH if possible. So I was looking at getting either the Timbren or SumoSprings helper springs for the rear suspension to reduce squat and improve steering, control, braking, etc. Would you recommend one over the other? I was thinking of going with the sumosprings after reading this review about the Timbren: they were good when either fully engaged or completely unengaged, but when unloaded and I went through something that compressed the rear suspension quickly, it was all  FLASH, BANG - their lack of progression really hit hard. I was hoping to avoid that by getting the sumos. If going with sumosprings, would you suggest the blue 1000 lb or black 1500 lb rating? My truck only has a payload capacity of 1240 lb

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Systems # TTORTUN4L and # TABSOSR are designed for a very high weight capacity at either 3,000lbs or 3,600lbs of capacity which will explain for the hard hits that were described.

The 1,000lb Blue SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-610-40 and 1,500lb Black SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-610-47 have a lower capacity but do better match the total capacity of your 2012 Nissan Frontier. I recommend using the 1,500lb Springs # SSR-610-47 as these are progressive and will provide more support initially than the 1,000lb springs.
