How Do I Wire A 2 Wire Light In Place Of A Single Wire Light On My Camper?

Question:

My older 87 camper van has one wire lighting red, and my new LED lighting has two wires red and white... how do I wire these, please?

The lighting on your 1987 camper van used a single power wire input and would ground the lamp through the lights mounting bracket. This is how the Optronics LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light # MCL44AB1 would connect.

The Optronics LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light # MCL44AB uses a 2 wire connection similar to the wiring on your new lights.

You will attach the red power input wire on your new lights to the red wire on your camper van. The white wire will need to be grounded to the vehicle. This can be done by using a ring terminal if there is not already one on the white wire and grounding it to the vehicle. Since you know the mounting hardware worked as a ground source previously you can use that point for grounding your new lights as well.
