I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37040ET for your 1996 Jayco Jay 1207 tent trailer. This system uses a built in 4 point sway control to reduce trailer sway and there is no need to remove any parts before backing up and maneuvering your Jayco. This system is rated for trailers up to 4,000lbs with a tongue weight up to 400lbs. The information I could find on your Jayco puts you at 1,800lbs total weight so that leaves you room to upgrade your camper in the future. This system does not require any drilling on your trailer frame and will bolt over the trailer frame rails.
A 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 is required to install the included 2" hitch ball on the head of the Equal-i-zer system.
