Recommended Weight Distribution System for a Riverside White Water Retro 150
Question:
Hi, I was going to install a sway bar, but Im nervous that it will compromise the integrity of the trailer. I have a Whitewater Retro 150. Most of the videos I have seen when they are attaching the plate to the tongue of the trailer the tongue is one solid piece of steel. Mine is more like a tube, hollow inside. The plate is the same size as the trailer tongue horizontally, so the screws would be at the very top and very bottom of the tongue, just barely fitting. Is that an issue? Im nervous about putting 6 big holes in my tongue. Whats the best option for sway control on a small 15 foot trailer? Im pulling it with a 2013 Ford Escape that has a factory installed tow package. Thanks for your help.

The Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control that you referenced is a great system, but as you mentioned it does require drilling. There may also be issues with certain size trailer frames. Therefore, it may not be the best option for your Riverside White Water Retro 150.
Instead, I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System which also has four point sway control like the above but does not require any drilling into the trailer frame and it is much more accepting of different size trailer frames. This is actually one of the most popular systems we offer due to how well it performs.
In order to make sure you get the correct system I would need to know your total tongue weight which is composed of both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer and the weight of any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I looked up your Riverside White Water Retro 150 and based on this I believe part # EQ37040ET which is rated up to 400 lbs will be correct for your needs.
I have attached a review/install video of this system for you as well.
