Recommended Weight Distribution System to Maximize Towing Capacity on 2016 Honda Pilot

Question:

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot FWD that is rated to tow 3500 lbs. I am looking at buying a travel trailer that weighs 2,700 dry and 3500 GWR. What would be a good weight distribution system to get to tow the trailer. Thanks

When you are trying to get the top towing weight out of your 2016 Honda Pilot, you are wise in looking into a weight distribution system. The way you choose a weight distribution system is based mostly on the total tongue weight. The total tongue weight is the amount of weight in lbs resting on the hitch receiver when the trailer is loaded plus the weight of any cargo loaded in the tow vehicle behind the rear axle (in the cargo space). Too much tongue weight makes the tow vehicle sag at the back and affects many aspects of safe towing, so this is where the distribution system lessens the tongue weight and brings your trailer to safe operation at maximum load.

Based on the owners manual for your Honda Pilot's tongue weight rating of 350 lbs and the specs from your trailer, I would recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System with 4-Point Sway Control, # EQ37040ET. I like this system because it stabilizes as well as works to reduce trailer sway by utilizing metal on metal friction and the control this system creates. This is a bolt on system, so there is no drilling required. I've attached a video so you can see how this product works as well as get some of the measurements.
