First, I recommend getting the Custom Fit Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # SH27VR. It has a max tongue weight of 500 lbs. Use the etrailer tongue weight scale # e99044 to get your R-Pod set up correctly. When finding the right weight distribution hitch you want to match or exceed your R-Pod's gross trailer weight. After loading your R-Pod down with gear let's say that it will weigh about 3,500-4,000 lbs and your tongue weight should be around 350 to 400 lbs. The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37040ET is a good system for you to get and fits your application.

Now for the wiring. Get the Towing Kit for your Stealth Hitch # SH58VR Which comes with everything you need to wire your 2013 BMW X3. This kit will give you the 7-way trailer connector so you can use the Curt Echo # C51180. This is a wireless brake controller and is the simplest to use. It goes between your R-Pod and your BMW 7 pole connector and is controlled by your phone. Super simple and I've included a video to help you understand how easy it is to use and adjust.

This is my recommended package for your set up and you will be all set to head down the road with no issues. This should clear things up for you.
