Parts Needed To Install Tekonsha Prodigy P3 90195 In 1994 Chevrolet Silverado W/ Factory 7-way

Question:

In addition to ordering the P3, what do I also need to include in the order to complete the installation in a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that has the factory towing package and a 7-pin plug? Yes, the 7-pin does have wires to it: red-white-blue-yellow-brown-green the heavy black wire at the plug was not connected. Thank you

Since your 1994 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup has the factory 7 way connector wiring you will have a blue and orange wire located underneath the brake booster.

The factory orange wire will need to be connected to the 1 o'clock pin of your 7-way connector and then will get installed onto a fused stud.

The factory blue wire will need to be routed inside of the cab of the truck through a bushing like # SWC8057 to connect to the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.

You will need to get the # 5506 which will include the circuit breakers and wiring needed to complete the installation. The following connections will need to be made:

Blue wire of # 90195 to factory blue wire
Black wire of # 90195 extended with # 5506 to positive terminal of battery with included 20 amp circuit breaker if trailer you plan on towing has 1-2 braking axles, or the included 30 amp circuit breaker if your trailer has 3-4 braking axles.
White wire to ground
Red wire to cold side of stop light switch that only has power when the brakes are applied. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 will help identify the correct wire.

I included a video of a trailer brake controller being installed in a similar 1997 Chevrolet C/K pickup for you to take a look at.
