Adding Sway Control to 2018 Land Rover Discovery without Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
Good afternoon, TV: 2018 Land Rover Discovery RW:2013 Keystone Premier Ultra Bullet 19FBPRdry weight 4168lbs I am looking to purchase a ball mount with sway tab. I had a couple of questions when looking for the right ball mount. First off the manufactures manual for our vehicle does not recommend WDH since the vehicle has self leveling air suspension. With this in mind we are looking for a ball mount that has a sway tab so we can use with our sway bar. The tongue coupler of our trailer requires a 2 5/16 ball. It is listed as class IV. The ball mount that I found with a sway tab is from Curt and is item 45820. The diameter on the mount for the ball to fit into is 1 inch. I have seen a couple of balls that are 2 5/16 ball and have either 1 inch or 1 ¼ inch diameter. They are listed as class III. My first question is can I use the class three setup which is the mountCurt 45820 and a 2 5/16 ball, 1 inch diameter, both rated at 7500lbs with the trailer class IV coupler? If this works out then my next question would be do you have a 2 5/16 ball, 1 inch diameter that will work with this mount? Also, in the description the Curt 45820 it says it has a two inch . According to the manufacture of our vehicle the top of the tow ball should align with pin, would these measurements work with your products?

You are correct in looking at the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab for 2" Hitches # D320. The hitch rating on the trailer is a class IV rating as a maximum. The ball mount you see is still within the maximum weight of your Keystone Premier Ultra Bullet so you will be fine. This also will give you the closest possible fit for your tow ball height requirement by Land Rover. For the ball use 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter # C40007. It has the 1" diameter shank that you need for the ball mount.
Here is the Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. It includes the ball for the ball mount, the camper ball mount and of course the sway bar itself. As an added reminder I recommend to only use the sway bar on long straight highways. They have a tendency to break or bend when backing up as you are doing a lot of steering changes so always remove before backing up or when you are on extremely tight roads.
