Best Hitch for Ground Clearance on 2013 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I have a honda odyssey 2013 and need a hitch with max ground clearance as I have a steep drive way. I saw hitches that are easy to install and hitches where the back bumper needs to be removed. Do the hitches that require the bumper to be removed allow for more ground clearance. I need the hitch that allows for the most clearance possible. Thanks for your help!

Generally speaking, a hitch with a concealed cross tube is going to provide for a bit better ground clearance than a hitch that does not; concealed cross tube hitches will almost always mount behind the bumper, requiring removal. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 306-X7253 provides the best ground clearance of any of the hitches available for your 2013 Honda Odyssey with 14" from the top of the receiver tube to the ground. It also doesn't protrude quite like some of the other concealed cross tube hitches that are available, so it's the best solution available and will provide you with a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver that's ideal for towing or carrying bike racks and accessories.

If you'll be towing with this hitch, you'll also need a wiring harness, ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip. For wiring I recommend using the Tekonsha # 118521 because of the reliability of Tekonsha converters over time. To complete your towing setup a ball mount kit like the # 989900 might be good to have if you know you'll be towing but aren't sure what the trailer will be; this comes with 2 ball mounts with varying rise/drops, both 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls, a hitch pin, clip and storage bag.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out, as well as our entire selection of bike racks and ball mount kits in case you're looking for something different or plan on using the hitch to carry some bikes.
