Can I Haul a Power Wheel Chair On a Cargo Carrier While Trailer Towing With a 2014 Honda Odyssey?

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey need to haul a 83 lb carrier and 173 lb power wheel chair plus your 20 lb hitch adapter Honda says tongue max is 525 and other info says 350. Is it 525 if i donot trailer at same time? or can i also trailer?

By using the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 this will reduce your receiver capacity by 50%. To determine your exact capacity you will need to find the capacity rating on your receiver. Honda may be giving you the maximum capacity your 2014 Odyssey is capable of supporting on a receiver. We have the etrailer Receiver # e98862 with a tongue weight rating of 350lbs or the EcoHitch # 306-X7253 with a tongue weight rating of 525lbs. As the Dual Hitch # MPG544 will reduce either 50% that will leave you either 175lbs total tongue weight or 262.5lb, both of which are less than your needing to haul with the 83lb carrier and 173lb power wheel chair. The only way you will be able to carry the chair with a trailer is by putting the chair on the trailer. Then you will not need the adapter and not lose 50% of your hitch capacity.
