The Tekonsha Wire Replacement, part # 3020, for Dodge Vehicles is for vehicles that have the factory 7-way trailer connection installed and the wiring ran for the brake controller to a connector under the dash on the left side of the brake pedal, usually blue.
The Dodge Nitro does not come pre-wired with a 7-way connector in the rear or factory wiring pre-installed for a brake controller. You will need to hardwire your brake controller to the stoplight switch, battery, ground and trailer brakes. You will need to use a Circuit tester, part # PTW2993 if you need one, to determine the correct wire to splice the red wire from the brake controller to. This wire is found coming out of the brake pedal switch and will show power only when the pedal is depressed.
To wire the brake controller you will need a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number # 118554, if you do not already have a 4-way connector installed and a Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, part number # ETBC7, to complete the installation.
