10to 12 Extended Ball Mount For Class-5 Hitch With 2 Receiver?

Question:

Im looking for an 8-12 extension I can use on my service truck to pull an RV. Truck hitch is a class 5 heavy duty 18,000lbs rated, frame mounted 2 receiver. RV weight loaded 5500lbs. My service bed is wider than a normal bed and hits the front of the camper while turning.

In your question you state that you have a Class-5 hitch, and they come with a 2-1/2” receiver opening. You also state that you have a 2” receiver. I will offer a ball mount solution for either size receiver.

For a 2” receiver you can use the 13-1/4” long Brophy # BM20 with 2” drop, or the 14-1/4” long Curt # D-28 with 6” drop.

For a 2-1/2” receiver you can use the 12-1/4” long Convert-A-Ball # AMSCV-6 with 6” drop, or the 10-1/2” long Draw-Tite # 45291 with a 7-3/4” drop, or the 13-1/4” long Brophy # BZ20 with 2” drop.

I am recommending long hitch ball mounts. The use of “hitch extenders” dramatically reduces hitch weight capacities.

If you need a new hitch ball for this project, just let me know what diameter ball you need, and what diameter shank (the threaded part) you need that ball to have and I can add that to your recommendation.

To keep your setup working smooth and quietly grab a jar of Reese # 58117 ball lube. If you need an extra hitch pin and clip on hand consider the Curt # C21500 hitch pin with clip.
