Recommended Back Up Camera System for 2008 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Im looking for the best option for a backup camera for an 08 Toyota Rav 4. Specifically Id like to get one that is mounted somewhere near the centerline of the vehicle and not over the license plate due to said plate being offset to the left and the view would be partially obscured by the rear mounted spare tire. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!

I believe I have the perfect option for you. The Rear View Safety # RVS-772718 back up camera has a small camera that could be mounted in the hard cover on your spare tire. It might not be perfectly centered if mounted in the center of the cover, but because nothing would be obstructing it, you'd have a generous 120° field of view from the camera.
Rather than needing to use a suction cup mount, which are actually not legal in some states, the kit includes a replacement rear view mirror that has the monitor in it. The monitor acts just like a regular rear view mirror until you back the vehicle, at which time the camera image will appear in the mirror. The camera even has 8 infrared lights for night vision.
I've linked to a product description video featuring the camera system.
