Which Kuat Pivot Swing Away Hitch Extender for Exhaust on Passenger Side

Question:

Hi. I was wondering about the Kuat Pivot 2 swing away arm and how it would affect the exhaust pipe. I have 2 vehicles set up for a 2 rack, both with the exhaust on the passenger side. 2014 Toyota Prius V and 2004 Toyota 4Runner. Would you recommend the drivers swing to stay clear of the exhaust or would the passenger side work as well? Please let me know. Thank you.

That's a really interesting question, and while the Kuat Pivot does add a good bit of extension - measuring over 5 inches from the hitch pin hole to the back of the swing arm - since you have the option of using an extender that swings to either side, to completely avoid the passenger's side exhaust I recommend the Driver's Side Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # PVD20B.

There likely wouldn't be an issue using the passenger's side swing away due to the extension the Pivot gives (and it also looks like the Prius exhaust points downwards), but you can remove even the possibility of an issue with the driver's side option.

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well if you'd like of the Driver's Side Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # PVD20B.
