Trailer Hitch With Highest Weight Capacity for 2008 Nissan Xterra
Question:
Xterra 2008 towing Have dealer added receiver Max towing weight 5K, max hitch weight 350 #. after market and want to know if there is any method/way to increase the tongue weight? I have a basic understanding of towing dynamics and safety concerns. Different hitch set upon same vehicle? Bigger tow vehicle? Stay with pop-up? Get a tent? ?? Thanks

Thanks for the kind wishes and I did check out the owner's manual for your 2008 Nissan Xterra, and what it says is that the vehicle has a 5,000 lb towing capacity and 500 lb tongue weight capacity. I recommend verifying these numbers in your manual, but if your hitch only has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity, you can add an aftermarket hitch with a higher capacity.
Keep in mind that no matter what, you have to stay at 5,000 lbs towing and 500 lbs tongue weight as the max, but the hitch that fits your 2008 Xterra and has the highest tongue weight capacity is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13514.
This hitch has a 4,000 lb towing/400 lb tongue weight capacity, but when used with weight distribution its capacities are 6,000 lbs towing/600 lb tongue weight, though to reiterate you do have to keep the capacities at 5,000 lbs towing/500 lbs tongue weight.
And lastly, if you also need a trailer wiring harness for your 2008 Nissan Xterra the correct part is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56225.
I've added links below to video installs for you to take a look at as well.
