Why Curt Hitch Requires Stabilizing Strap on 2017 Subaru Crosstrek But EcoHitch & Draw-Tite Do Not
Question:
For 2017 Suburu Crosstrek. Why does the Curt require a stabilizing strap but the Eco Invisi does not?

The reason why the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13135 that fits your 2017 Subaru Crosstrek requires Stabilizing Strap # 18050 for accessories like bike racks but the other hitches that fit your car don't - the Draw-Tite # 76084 and EcoHitch # 306-X7203 - is completely manufacturer preference. Curt feels this is needed while the other hitch manufacturers have never felt it was necessary for their hitches.
The strap can offer some support for these accessories but with seeing as how it is an added expense and not needed to maintain the warranties of the other hitches, for your '17 Crosstrek I recommend going with the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7203 for the cleanest look as it has a completely hidden crosstube which means only the receiver is showing.
Otherwise, if you want the more economical option and don't mind the crosstube showing I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76084.
