Recommended Trailer 7-Way Wire Size

Question:

What is the maximum wire AWG that will fit into the rear contacts? I have a disability scooter lift and am planning on running a 10 AWG wire from the battery to the rear of our 2012 Toyota Sienna. Will the RV connector take a 10 AWG or will I have to splice in a step down wire to fit into the connector? Thanks!

The Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector - Vehicle End # C58155 doesn't have a specified maximum wire gauge. We choose to use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 when hardwiring in most cases. We do directly hardwire that 12v 10 gauge wire without any step down connector. Most manufacturers use 12 and 14 gauge wires for different functions on pre-wired assemblies.
