Aluminum Ball Mount and Cushioned Hitch Ball for Use with 2021 Kia Telluride

Question:

I have 2021 KIA Telluride I have purchased a receiver form you guys and I need to get ball mount and my measurements are 14.25 at the the receiver and the trailer level is 16.0 that being said puts me at 1.75 of rise so I round that up I guess will need 2.0 of rise. So all that said I really like Premium Fastway item# DTLBM8200 Flash Self-Locking, Aluminum Ball Mount - 2inch , 1inch Rise - 10,000 lbs . So I guess my question is this only has 1 inch rise does the ball make another 1.0 inch? if not and I go with the 4.0 inch and 3.0 inch rise wont that be to high? Sorry for all the confusion. I just really dont want to have to go to an adjustable hitch if not needed. Also want to use Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2inch Hitch Ball - 1inch Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K Item # C40047 anyway would love to know if this set up will work?

Two inches of rise would be the ideal amount based on the height differences you mentioned. When you can't get an exact number it's best to go a little taller since there would be some suspension sag from the tongue weight of the trailer. The rise/drop figure of a ball mount like the # DTBM4200 is factored with a standard hitch ball so you would not need to further calculate in a balls height as well unless you went with a taller ball.

Now in the case of the Rockerball # C40047 this ball does add an additional 1-1/2 inches over a standard hitch ball so if you used this with the # DTBM4200 you'd be looking at 2-1/2 inches of rise when using the ball mount in the rise position. Which considering the softer suspension of a 2021 Kiat Telluride I'd say this would be spot on and work well.
