Weight Distribution Hitch for Light R-Pod Travel Trailer

Question:

I am pulling a R-pod trailer with a dry weight at 2800 lbs. I have seen in many places that if your trailer is more than half the weight of your TV you should use a weight-distribution hitch. This would be the case with my camper loaded. Almost all the hitches I have seen do not go as low a weight rating that I would require. I have towed without a WD hitch and I employ one to achieve a smoother ride. Would a hitch with a 400 - 600 pound tongue weight and a 4000 -6000 GV work?

Very good question, and we do have a solution for a weight distribution hitch for a very light R-Pod travel trailer. For a 2,800 lb dry weight R-Pod with a GVWR in the 3,5000 lb - 4,000 lb range the best option for a weight distribution hitch is the Fastway e2 because it is the best value.

It combines quality with ease of use, superb sway control, and a price tag much less expensive relative to other systems. The Fastway that is perfect for your very light R-Pod is the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600.

This is because it is designed for total tongue weights between 250 lbs and 600 lbs, which your R-Pod will fall into. The only other thing you will need is a hitch ball depending on the size of your R-Pod's coupler, either the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 or 2" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6080.
