Recommended Wiring Harness and Brake Controller for 2017 Freightliner M2 Tandem Axle Chassis
Question:
Hello, I have a question about the Modulite 119190kit. Ive used them before and actually have one installed in my 2007 International 4400. I have a 2017 Freightliner M2 tandem axle chassis hook lift truck with air brakes and believe it is also a 3 wire system. Because Ive ran into this issue on some of my other trucks I went ahead and ordered the Modulite C59496 for it so I could tow my 18k utility trailer with electric brakes and a 2 wire setup. Ive tried looking up info to confirm but wanted to know if the Modulite will work with this truck? If not is there anything else you can recommend. Thanks.

The # C59496 trailer wiring harness is a great option for your truck. The harness can be used on 2- and 3-wire systems which makes it extremely versatile. When used on 2-wire systems, brake wire on harness must be grounded for proper function and on 3-wire system on the towing vehicle it adapts to work with a 2-wire system on the trailer.
Then you will need to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7 along with the brake controller of your choosing for the trailer braking necessity. If you need additional wire length use # 10-2-1 or # 10-1-1. I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 as a quality proportional controller that won't break the bank and will work on trailers with up to 4 axles.
I've attached some articles and videos to assist.
