Is There Device to Prevent Vehicle Battery from Draining When Trailer Left Connected to Vehicle
Question:
2018 Ford F150 pulling 2011 Keystone camper. Will the Roadmaster 690 park light diode prevent the camper from discharging the truck battery? For instance, if I stop for the night with no external 120VAC power I try to remember to disconnect the 7-pin camper connector to make sure I wont be draining the truck battery. This exact thing happened when I was pulling this same camper with a 2002 Silverado truck some years ago, so now Im a little paranoid! So, will this diode isolate the systems to prevent this just in case I were to forget to unhook the camper plug? Thanks for any input you can give me. Sincerely,

Expert Reply:
The single diode part # RM-690 would not be the correct part you'd need to prevent your vehicle battery from draining since under normal circumstances the direction of current would be the same. Instead you'd want the part # PK5231201 which you can use as a way to prevent the circuit from being complete when the vehicle is off.
