Can I Use A Hitch Extender With The Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 To Carry A 150lb Load?

Question:

Thinking about C18100 for its light weight, I have 2020 Chev Traverse and need more clearance when folded up, can I use a hitch extender 5-8 inch and gain the clearance needed, only to carry 100-140 lb deer max

Yes, you can use the Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 with your 2020 Chevy Equinox with a hitch extender like the Brophy 7" Hitch Extender # HE06. Since you are only going to be carrying about 100-150lbs it will be fine, but keep in mind that when you use a hitch extender you limit the accessory to about 50% of its original weight capacity. I like using the aluminum carriers for situations like yours because you can just hose the carrier off when you unload the deer and you won't have to worry about it rusting over time.

Usually with heavier accessories, I use the etrailer Hitch Pin Alignment Collar # e98942 because it lines up the hole perfectly. It makes it easier when using a threaded anti-rattle bolt like # 63232. The cargo carrier doesn't come with one but you can use this one to convert it into an anti-rattle system if you wanted to.

Or if you just wanted to lock it onto your 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, I use our Hitch Lock # e98880 on all my accessories! I've included videos of all the parts we talked about so check them out if you want to learn more!
