Question:
I currently have dealer installed hitch with flat 4-way connector. Need recommendations mounting connector on 7-way upgrade kit. Receiver is very short and mounts from top. It has safety chain loops on sides with no room for Curt clamp on bracket.

In order to upgrade the 4-way trailer connector on a 2020 Subaru Outback to a 7-way I recommend using the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L. If the trailer has brakes then you will want to add the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 since this would make for a splice-free installation. Simpy plug the two 4-ways in together and run a power wire to the battery but that's it.
In regards to mounting, you'd need to rig something up yourself since they don't make any sort of bracket that works alongside the factory hitch. The good news is that the brake controller can be mounted in any direction. I suggest using the No-Drill Bracket part # C57202 and bending to fit your needs.
