Best Towing Setup for my 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite

Question:

My spouse passed away 04/14/20. I am moving my belongings from TX to PA on a 6x10 open trailer, by myself. I am driving a 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite van by myself and have never driven a car towing a trailer. I know absolutely nothing about trailer hitches or trailers. I am trying to research to determine best trailer and best hitch. I am apprehensive about swaying or jackknifing trailer. Could you please help. Someone told me to get eaz-lift 1000 weight distributing hitch. Someone else told me I don’t need it. Just get small Equalizer hitch from RV Store. I am trusting the Lord to get me safely there, but I realize I need to do my part and seek the best advice. I believe the Lord led me to you. Thanking you in advance.

I'm sorry to hear that. As for the questions you have we can get some good solutions for you. For hitches the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98855 is a good choice. It has a 525 pound tongue weight rating and a 3500 lb. gross trailer weight rating which exceeds the towing capacity of you 2019 Honda Odyssey that is 3,000 or 3,500 lbs. This can be found in your owner's manual to determine the exact rating.

You will need wiring as well to operate the lights on the trailer like the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118753 which is easy to install and gives you a working 4-way connector for your trailer.
