The Difference Between the Curt Hitch # C64NR and etrailer # e98855 for 2018 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I know on the previous Odysseys the 3rd party hitches generally had a shorter ground clearance than the OEM hitch with the ones with the crossbar being the shortest. Is the ground clearance any different between the different hitches for the 2018 Honda Odyssey? Or is it purely the cosmetic difference of one having a hidden crossbar?

The biggest difference between the Curt Trailer Hitches, #C64NR and the etrailer # e98855, is the # C64NR hitch sits up closer to the bumper which will give you a little more clearance between the bottom of the hitch and the ground.

The Curt # C64NR is less visible with only the receiver opening sticking out from under the rear of the van.

The etrailer Hitch, # e98855, actually sits lower and the cross tube can be seen under the bumper of the Odyssey. This hitch will give you less ground clearance than the Curt, but only by about an inch.

The other difference is that the # e98855 is much easier to install than the the # C64NR.
