Can Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2 Inch Hitches be Used to Flat Tow
Question:
I intend to flat tow an 88 Jeep Wrangler behind my 2017 F350 LB with a slide in camper that has a 24 inch overhang to the rear landing pad of the camper. I am seeing some contradictory information respectfully even here on e-trailers site with regard to flat towing with either of these extensions. I called e-trailer a few days ago and was told it cant be done safely with either of these. Can you shed some light on this for me, and if neither of these will work what options mat be available. I see similar set-ups in my region on a regular basis but have no direct access to the set ups I see rolling down the road. Any input is appreciated.

So long as you stay under the capacities you can absolutely flat tow with the Reese Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for Titan 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # RP45292 or the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # C45048.
These 2-1/2" to 2" extension and reducer each have a 4,500 lb towing and 450 lb tongue weight capacity at their 34" length, or can be cut down to 24" length for a 6,000 lb towing and 600 lb tongue weight capacity.
If your '88 Wrangler is under either of those capacities - which it should be though you will want to verify - then you can use the extension and reducer.
