How Big of a Hole Should be Drilled so that Wires and Socket of the Petersen Clearance Will Clear

What size hole is needed for the bulb and wires to fit into the side of the trailer?

Expert Reply:
I went out into our warehouse and pulled a Peterson Amber Flush Mount Clearance Light # 424800 to measure how big of a hole you would need to drill for the wires and socket to fit through the trailer wall and found that it would need to be larger in diameter than 1.1 inches.
The rubber socket on the socket makes it just a little larger than 1 inch. If it were me I would go with a 1-1/4 inch hole.
