Can the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch Be Left Attached to the Trailer When Removing From Truck
Question:
I see lots of comments about how heavy the 5th wheel hitch is to remove and replace back into the bed of the pick up. Cant you just pull the 4 pins that secure the hitch to the rails, leave the king pin connected to the hitch and use your trailer to lift the hitch out of the bed of your truck?

Yes, the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3270 can be left attached to the pin box for removal. That said, you'd need to adjust the landing gear on the trailer to release tension from the pins as well as lift the trailer even further once the pins are removed to better help maneuver the hitch from the truck bed.
In most cases, it's easier to just pop the head off and then remove the base rather than playing with the trailer height.
