Installation of Ventline Vanair # VP-543SP onto a 2017 Ram ProMaster City cargo van
Question:
I want to install a Ventline Vanair # VP-543SP on the roof, rear passenger side in a 7-1/4inch flat area, in between two 3inch wide 1/4inch raised stiffening members that run the length of the cargo van. Will the VP-543SP fit? The area planned for the install is the thickness of the sheet metal. The VSP-543SP is designed for a roof 1-1/2inch to 2-1/2inch thick. What options do I have to fill the difference between the sheet metal thickness and what the VSP-543SP was designed for?

Typically, folks will use pieces of lumber to frame out the interior of the rough opening which makes for the proper thickness. I'd probably cut some 1/2 inch plywood to the necessary shape and glue three thicknesses of it together to gain the necessary thickness. The vent fan was designed to exhaust air from a small camper or van. The unit features a 100 CFM fan.
