Using Single Circuit for 7-Way 12-Volt Circuit and Converter Power Wire
Question:
I am installing wiring for a 2013 Ford Escape. The instructions for both the 4-flat connector 118566 and the brake controller 7-way kit ETBC7 call for running a 12V line from the battery to the back. Are two separate wires necessary, or can the 118566 power come from the heavy line installed for the ETBC7?

You can install the # ETBC7 per the instructions, and tap the power wire from the tail light converter box into the 12-volt accessory circuit ran from the 7-way. Make sure that the leg of the converter power wire is connected to the inline fuse holder before tapping it into the 7-way power wire.
I ran this by my contact at Tekonsha, and he said wiring the converter in this manner would be perfectly acceptable.
I have produced a wiring diagram that you might find helpful.
