Where Does the Trailer Jack Install on a Trailer if it has a Hinge Coupler

Question:

My Trailer is an Easy Hauler Model 30-1715B-75, date on ID plate, June 2006 Would you advise me of the best location for the jockey wheel after the hinge bracket has been installed. Either between the bracket and the towing end or is it recommended fitting the wheel bracket on the remaining tongue, closer to the main chassis The plate on the trailer shows Max GWR 1768 lbs so am I correct to assume that I will be able to shorten the tongue by the max. figure on the chart ie 34 inches ? I look forward to your reply I Combe

You will want to put the trailer jack between the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit # FHDPW330300 that you referenced and the frame of the trailer. If you had the jack on the side of the hinge that pivots it would make it unstable and difficult to pivot the tongue of the coupler.

Not only would it make things much more difficult, but the hinge is designed to only support weight when it is locked out straight as both sides of hinge will have support to carry the weight. When the hinge can pivot all the weight of the trailer would be only on one side of the hinge and it is not rated for that.

You should be fine to use the hinge at the 34 inch mark also since your trailer does not weight that much.
