Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1987 GMC 1500 Pick Up Truck
Question:
WILL THIS TRALIER HITCH FIT A GMC HIGH SIERRA 1500 OR A SIERRA 1500 CLASSIC ? THANK YOU

Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, # 75034, will fit your 1987 GMC 1500 as long as it does not have a deep drop bumper. If your truck has an 8 ft bed and a deep drop bumper, then you will instead need the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41504. I have attached a photo of a typical deep drop bumper if you are not familiar with them.
If your truck has a 6 ft bed, then you will need additional hardware to complete the installation. You will need six 3/8 inch spacer blocks, # 01077-011, and six carriage bolts. I have attached the installation instructions of both trailer hitches for you to check out.
To complete your towing set up, you may also want to pick up the wiring harness, # HM41115, which will simply plug into your vehicles factory connection point on the frame rail and the ball mount kit, # EBMK4.
