Stabilizer for Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier
Question:
HI there.. We have a K 9 unit that we need to have access to a spare tire quickly when needed. Our vehicle is a 2017 Ford Transit with the indented bumper at the hitch location. it is recessed 3 inches from the outside edge of the bumper. The wheels are 16 inch. What I am curious about is the stability of the carrier when loaded when going over rough roads..ie will it not wobble and possibly damage our rear doors where we unload the dogs from? I think I read you have some sort of product that secures your carrier from wobbling and also a hitch that would extend and hence deal with the recessed position of our 2 inch draw tight hitch. Can you provide me with your suggestions and costs. Thanks

The Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 only has a mounting bolt as opposed to an anti-rattle bolt, but there is a simple way to reduce rattle by using an anti-rattle device. The carrier won't wobble or be loose to the point where it damages the doors, but if you want added stability and to minimize rattle, an anti-rattle device is a great option.
For that, I recommend the simple Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches # RM-061 or etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer # e99007.
In regards to an extender, the carrier cannot be used with any type of adapter, but since your hitch is recessed just 3 inches, the carrier will have enough room to work on your van without any interference with the bumper, as you can see from the dimensional photo I added.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125.
