Will the Curt Echo Brake Controller Work with Tekonsha Wiring Kit 118253 on 2010 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello, A couple of years ago, I purchased a #118253 towing wiring package with a 7-Way plug for my 2010 Honda Pilot. it works perfectly fine. Now I need to tow a trailer with electric brakes and I was thinking about this newer wireless technology that seems to be working fine. I have two questions: Do you recommend this CURT 51180 Echo brake controller? and: Would this work with my existing 7-way plug? Regards

The short answers to your questions about the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 are yes and yes.

When Curt first announced a brake controller that would be controlled via Bluetooth from a smartphone our biggest concern was what happens when the controller disconnects from the phone while heading down the road. Curt remedied this by making it so that the Curt will function as normal via the most recent settings if for some reason it disconnects from the phone (phone runs out of power or something like that). Aside from that though this controller is doing really well and everyone seems to really like it!

The Echo only needs the basic trailer light and 12V power functions to operate properly. Since the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118253 you installed on your 2010 Honda Pilot has all of these functions you're good to go!

Just as a side note, most of the complaints that I've seen from people have to do with how easy it would be to steal since it simply inserts into the 7-Way and it doesn't have a way to lock. While this is true, the Echo is small enough that it can easily fit inside your glove compartment, underneath a seat, or just in your trunk when you aren't using it.
