Installing 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller on my 2014 Audi Q5

Question:

Is it possible to install a 7-way connector for a 2014 Audi Q5? What is the best way to achieve that? Im trying to figure out how to best setup my Q5 to tow a travel trailer. I already have this hitch installed: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Audi/Q5/2014/75940.html?VehicleID=201438850 Another thing Im trying to figure out is where the 7-way connector would sit at the back of the car. Lastly, If I do install a 7-way connector, would I still be able to connect a travel trailer that only has a 6-way connector or something else?

If you currently have a working 4-Way plug then using the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation Kit part # ETBC7 kit is a great way to get a powered 7 Way connector on the rear of your 2014 Audi Q5. You can use the Curt No-Drill Bracket part # C57202 to attach the 7-Way to. The bracket will mount around the tube of your hitch and really does a great job staying solid.

With this kit using the Curt Echo part # C51180 is an easy way to add a brake controller that you control using a smartphone.

The second option for a brake controller would be something like the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV which is a more traditional in vehicle type brake controller. This will install using the Electronic Trailer Brake Installation Kit part # ETBC7 and the same Curt No Drill Bracket part # C57202. This is my preferred option because I like the on-dash control but it does take up space and change the looks of the interior.

If you do not have a 4-Way from the factory add the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56404 which is custom fit and requires no modification of the factory wiring.

As for the ability to also use a 6-Way or 5-Way the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Way to 6-Way, 5-Way or 4-Way part # HM47570 will allow you to plug in any of the typical wiring harnesses found on trailers.
