Can Furrion Chill AC Unit be Installed on 1-1/2 Thick Car Hauler Trailer Roof
Question:
Hello , I am looking at your Furrion RV 13.5k or 14,5k? ac units. I like the dual motor and soft start. I have a enclosed trailer with 1.5 inch roof. They claim I need a 3.5 per specs. Can this be mounted with modifications, or do you recommend another unit? My trailer is 24 and used to haul a car to car shows so it will be in the sun all day and run on a Honda 3000 gen. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You do need to have 3" - 6" of roof cavity depth to properly install the Furrion AC units, but since your car trailer roof is only 1-1/2" thick all you need to do is frame out the section of the roof where the AC unit will sit with lumber that is at least 3/4" thick. I have attached some clips from the installation instructions for you to check out.
So now you just have to decide if you want the 13.5K # FR52PR or the 15K # FR92PR. Obviously these are pretty comparable so I would just say if you needed to have your doors open more often than not while at shows, I think you'll be happier with the 15K, especially having the trailer in direct sunlight.
If you will have the doors closed for the most part, then either option will work just fine.
