Is Trimming the Side Panels Required for the Curt Hitch C13234 On a 2019 Ford Edge
Question:
I am interested in product # C13234 for a 2019 Ford Edge. Is it absolutely necessary to trim the plastic pieces shown in the videos or can I simply drill the appropriate holes and then replace the trim on the outside of the hitch once it is in place? M concern is that once the trim is cut that it would then have the potential to rattle causing extra noise issues. This hitch would only be used to carry bicycles. Thanks,

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234 is a great option for a 2019 Ford Edge. In regards to trimming, this is only very minor and would not create any issue on the vehicle. The side panels will need to be trimmed slightly as the hitch actually mounts to a spot on the frame where they are partially secured. I cannot recommend you sandwich the side panel between the hitch and frame or between the frame and hardware. Therefore, yes this is absolutely necessary but very minor. I took a look at some of the reviews and there was no mention of rattling.
The trailer hitch options for this vehicle are require this side panel to be trimmed so you will need to do so if you want to carry your bikes.
