Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited With Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

We have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited. I have a Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. I need all the components to be able tow this vehicle with my 2020 Forester C class camper. I have been researching your web site but the parts I chose comes back saying this won’t fit my Jeep. Can you please provide a parts list for my application including options and availability.

There are a bunch of parts needed to flat tow your 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited so I can understand it can get a little confusing, but I'll make a list for you of the parts that you need to tow it with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520.

I will assume you have the standard factory bumper on your '17 Wrangler JK Unlimited, as you did not specify otherwise:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521448-5
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243

If you don't have one I do recommend the RoadMaster Release Tool for Motor Home Mounted Tow Bars # RM-066 to make it much easier to release your Falcon 2 tow bar. Additionally, you may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-070 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are great because they have removable tabs which means your Jeep is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing. I have added a photo showing these base plates installed on a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited.

The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Jeep's electrical system safe, and both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are strongly recommended because they are one-time installs which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and thus are more rigid.

I have added links to video reviews and installs on a '17 Wrangler Unlimited for you to check out as well.
