Will Installing Higher Capacity Curt Hitch on 2017 Ford F-250 Give Vehicle More Towing Capacity

Question:

I just purchased the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V Commercial Duty - 2-1/2inch - C15802 . I have a 2017 F250 and you say that it wont improve my towing capability because even though the tongue weight goes from stock 1500 lbs to 2700 lbs and the two capacity of 20000 lbs - that it wont help me? What I mean is this. Along with the Bulletproof Heavy Duty Class 5 Hitch with 3,000 lb Tongue Weight Capacity and 22,000 lb Max Towing Capacity - this means that I have NO concern over the trailer now breaking my ball or hitch. I have an 8000 lb trailer, and although I agree it wont allow me to actually pull any more weight, will it not provide me more safety in that I can now not be concerned applying up to 2700 lbs of TW and pull the trailer with virtually no opportunity for failure of parts that came stock on the truck? Thanks, and I look forward to your response.

With the Curt hitch part # C15802 installed on your 2017 Ford F-250 you will definitely have a higher capacity hitch that would not be the weak point in your towing setup. It can't give you more capacity than the truck has but the added capacity doesn't hurt anything and basically allows you to know that the hitch wouldn't be what fails if you towed over capacity.
