Was wondering what the measurement were from the holes to the bottom of the coupler.

I attached a picture that has the dimensions from the bottom pin hole of the Bulldog Coupler # BD0287610300 to the bottom of the coupler (10-1/2 inches) and also the distance between the holes.

Actually on brake magnets for trailers either wire can be used as the power or the ground so the colors don't really mean anything. Most likely the magnet manufacturer just put what ever color was most convenient on your trailer.

Most likely the new axle has self-adjusting brakes which when new are known for feeling pretty weak. The good news is that you can keep applying them over and over while the trailer is traveling and they will tighten and get more sensitive feeling.
