Hooks for Straps on Older Sears X-Cargo Rooftop Carrier

Question:

This is a follow-up to a question answered today by Kyle S. about replacement clips for tie down straps for my car carrier. Kyle, Im wondering whether parts RG8890248 or Y90214 might fit better than part RL100600? It looks like the bike clips have a little more of an L shape and might provide a better fit in the door frame. Would they be suitable for a car carrier? Thanks.

The best option which may work for replacing the hooks on your older Sears X-Cargo rooftop car carrier are the Replacement Car Clips for Rightline Gear Rooftop Cargo Bags # RL100600 (Quantity of 4) or # RL100605 (Quantity of 2).

These are rubber-coated steel and do not have the lip like the hooks in your photo; these are by far the best option for you.

The Replacement Side Lower Strap for Rhode Gear Trunk Mounted Bike Racks # RG8890248 and Replacement Upper Strap for Yakima Quickback 2 and 3 Bike Carriers # Y90214 you mentioned are meant for bike racks so I wouldn't be able to definitively say they will work for a cargo box. It is likely that both will be fine, but I still like the Rightline Gear Rooftop Cargo Bags # RL100600 (Quantity of 4) or # RL100605 (Quantity of 2) and think these are the best option for a potential solution.
