Can Front Mount Hitch for 2017 Nissan Titan xD Safely Handle 1,075 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

2017 Nissan Titan XD platinum, I would like to add front trailer hitch to move my travel trailer into storage under tight quarters. The trailer weighs around 8,800 pounds and has a hitch weight of 1075 pounds. Will the #65072 hitch handle this weight for short distance? If not, do you sell a bigger hitch? Also when the skid plate is removed for installation does it have to stay off or can it be replaced after hitch installation?

Since both the Draw-Tite # 65072 and Curt # C31077 front mount hitches only have a 500 lb tongue weight capacity they unfortunately won't be able to hold up under twice that much tongue weight even if you're using your 2017 Nissan Titan xD to move your trailer a short distance. If you were just barely over the weight capacity you could probably get away with it, but doubling the max weight is definitely a no go, but we do have alternative solutions for you!

Instead of using your pickup for parking your trailer in tight quarters you can use the Trailer Valet XL, 2" Ball # TVXL2 or 2-5/16" Ball # TVXL25, or the Trailer Valet RVR9 Remote-Controlled Trailer Dolly # TVRVR9. While these aren't as cost-effective as a front mount hitch, they do offer a bit more control over parking your trailer plus they can easily be transferred to a different trailer as opposed to having to purchase and install a new front hitch if you were to ever get a new tow vehicle.

Please note that the Trailer Valet options have a max tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs so you'll need to move some stuff around inside your trailer to get under that weight rating.
