If I'm understanding you correctly, you'd like to switch the 4 way connector on your trailer to a 7 way round connector, which is absolutely possible and is required if you're doing something like adding electric brakes to your trailer.

To add a 7 way to your trailer, I recommend using the Epicord # 277-000141 because it comes with a junction box attached that will make the wiring of the new trailer connection much easier. You will want to cut the 4 way on your trailer off and wire those loose wires into the junction box first. Once you've completed that you can wire in the brakes, 12v auxiliary and reverse light circuits to give yourself a completely functioning 7 way connection to plug into the connection on your vehicle.

If you need to add a 7 way to your vehicle, you'll want to use the Universal Trailer Brake Installation Kit # ETBC7 for a standard brake controller or the # ETBC7L if you're going to be using a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180. Using the # ETBC7 will provide you with both a 4 way and 7 way connection for your vehicle, so you would still be able to use the 4 way if the trailer didn't actually have brakes.
