Can Weight Distribution be Used With a 2006 Honda Pilot

Question:

Id like to use my pilot to tow some car for friends or when i find good deals to travel and pick them up .. so im wondering would a Distribution Hitch really be needed. I figured it would be a good idea to get one to have since ive seen Some suv sag in the rear when towing a cars. I would like to have a decent level car and not have it saging looking dangerous on the road

As long as the trailer hitch on your 2006 Honda Pilot is rated for weight distribution (WD), like the etrailer.com # e98851, then you can use it. We just have to make sure that you choose one that is best rated for your towing application.

When looking into purchasing a WD system you want to find one with a Tongue Weight (TW) range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find the TTW of your towing setup you will need to add the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer, which you can use part # e99044 for, along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer.

For your situation I would imagine that the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66558, which has a tongue weight range of 400 lbs - 600 lbs, is appropriate for your weight settings. This comes with integrated sway control and a shank so you just need to acquire a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank that matches the coupler on your trailer. We have the 2" # 63845 or the 2-5/16" # 63847 that can be used depending on what your trailer has.

Attached is a review video and some helpful articles that you can reference.
