Recommended Roof Rack for 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Black Flush Mounted Rails
Question:
Im trying to add roof racks to my car that I just bought. It came with the factory plastic roof rails - I want to know if I need to buy new roof rails or if I can attach crossbars directly to the factory rails. The attached photos are what is on my Jeep currently. Ultimately, what do I need to buy to make it possible to have a full roof rack system?

First I just want to thank you for the detailed photos, as it makes it much easier to verify the right roof rack setup on your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a few different factory trim options. Your Jeep is equipped with black flush mounted rails, and while there's not really anything available that actually utilizes those rails for installation (they're a bit too small and located too far in from the roof edge), we absolutely do have a number of options that are confirmed to fit your Jeep and will let you install a full system while keeping the rails right where they are.
For this I specifically recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Roof Rack System. This consists of # RRVA137B-2 for the two 54" Vortex Aero Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the Mounting Legs, and # DK234 for the Custom Fit Kit that will utilize a clamp-style attachment with the Jeep's door jambs for installation. This will provide you with a sleek, quiet, and durable roof rack that can support up to 165 pounds of cargo.
I really like the Rhino-Rack systems in particular because they really offer a lot of higher-end features that the more expensive brands give you but at a fraction of the cost. Locks are also included to help protect your investments. I have attached a sample install video as well that you can take a look at.
