We installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76209 on the a 2018 Subaru Impreza 5-Door Wagon and had 10 inches of clearance from the top of the hitch receiver to the ground. This is a pretty standard amount of ground clearance however it is a good idea to drive carefully when backing down a hill or other low ground clearance driving situations.
If you are concerned with ground clearance because you have a steep driveway or in general, I recommend to get the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7350 which is a concealed cross tube so it does not hang down as low. The only portion of the hitch that hangs below the bumper is the receiver tube. I have attached a photo for your reference. The EcoHitch is the better option if your concern is clearance but the installation is more difficult compared to the Draw-Tite. Since the cross tube is concealed with the EcoHitch it does require fascia trimming and the Draw-Tite does not.
